A LOOK INTO
THE FAMILY ALBUM
Here’s a brief, colourful overview of the Pentacam® family’s past 20 years.
Gert Köst, head of the development department at OCULUS, comes up with the idea of having a Scheimpflug camera rotate around the living eye. That’s how it all began.
First prototypes of the new Pentacam® are presented for the first time to a professional audience at the American Academy Meeting in Orlando, USA.
After only three years a further model, the Pentacam®HR, has been developed. The newcomer celebrates its premiere at the AAO in Chicago, USA.
The Pentacam® is getting better and better: The Pentacam® and Pentacam®HR are equipped with a new iris camera.
Product manager Jörg Iwanczuk presents the new Pentacam® AXL at the ESCRS in Barcelona. High-ranking experts such as Prof Renato Ambrósio Jr, Prof Paolo Vinciguerra and Dr Riccardo Vinciguerra are impressed.
Prof Belin from the USA has devised a new approach to classifying and monitoring keratoconus progression, and the Pentacam® enables him to realize his ideas. Since then, the “Belin ABCD Progression Display” has undergone one facelift and had new functions added to it.
With its new CSP Report the Pentacam® qualifies itself for a new group of customers: Scleral lens fitters are thrilled by the Pentacam®, and patients are grateful for significantly reduced fitting times.
OCULUS developers have succeeded in integrating yet another function into the Pentacam® AXL: Measurement results from the wavefront analysis functions and the retroillumination make the new Pentacam® AXL Wave a superstar.
